About TrailKind

TrailKind is a blog about doing the outdoors a little more kindly: durable gear, honest reviews, trail notes and the repair-and-reuse culture that keeps good kit walking for years instead of going to landfill.

Why this blog exists

The steady downpour of gear marketing tells us to buy more every season. The alternative is simple: know your gear, look after it, repair it and buy it once. Here I try, test and sometimes break equipment, and write up what lasts and why, along with the maintenance habits that make the difference.

What you will find here

  • Gear reviews: field-tested jackets, boots and packs, judged on durability first.
  • Trail guides: route notes and seasonal tips from the hills and glens.
  • Repair & reuse: practical repair walk-throughs, resale guides and second-hand gear stories.

Who writes it

Ganesh Bikram Shah, an MSc Digital Marketing student at UWS and a weekend hillwalker based in Scotland. I built this blog as a live project for the Digital Marketing Practice module, where it is used to practise SEO, content marketing, social promotion and analytics.

Every route, review and repair written up here is a job I have actually done, including the ones that went wrong first time. Where I have not tested something personally, I say so rather than guessing, and corrections are welcome on the contact page.
